Adding a task, moving unfinished ones to today, the week, the year and the setup, filmed in the real template.

What it does that most weekly planners don’t

Before building it we looked at 14 popular weekly planners on the Notion Marketplace. Seven of the top eight are a Monday to Sunday page you type into and wipe clean each week, so last week is gone. Reviews of four of them asked for the same thing: dates and times.

  • Unfinished tasks come back

Anything you didn’t get to waits under Overdue. One click on Move unfinished to today puts it all on today’s list.

  • Every week is already there

Each week and month from October 2026 to December 2027 is set up. A new week starts by itself, and the old ones stay.

  • Times and repeating tasks

Give a task a time like 09:00 if it has one. Weekly chores can add themselves with the Repeating task template.

  • Progress you can see

Every week and month shows how much is done, and the year view fills in as you tick things off.

We set it up from a fresh copy, the way you’ll get it: cleared the samples, added tasks with + Task and from the week calendar, and moved an overdue task to today with one click.

What’s inside

The home page puts today and this week side by side, with the month, your year and past weeks below. Every view reads the same list of tasks.

Today, Overdue and This week

Today lists your Top 3 first, then the rest. Overdue holds what slipped, with the button that brings it forward. Next to them, this week’s card and a seven-day calendar where you can drag a task to another day. A List tab shows the week as a list, which reads better on a phone.

This month

A calendar of every task this month, each tagged with its area. Use the arrows to look ahead to next month.

Your year

A card for each month from October 2026 to December 2027 with how many tasks are done. If you start later, months that already passed stay out of the way.

Also in the template

  • Five areas to start with

Each task gets an area and a color. Rename them or add your own.

    • Work
    • Personal
    • Health
    • Home
    • Study
  • Someday

Ideas and tasks with no date yet. Give one a date when you’re ready and it joins your week.

  • Made for your phone too

Add the home page to Favorites in the Notion app and today’s list is one tap away.

  • Sample data

A few weeks of sample tasks show it in use. One button clears them and never touches your own.

  • A Start here page

Five short steps inside your copy, with pictures of where to click.

How to use it each day

  1. Open the home page in the morning. Today shows your Top 3 first.

  2. Something left from yesterday? Click Move unfinished to today.

  3. New task? Click + Task, or click a day in the week calendar.

  4. On Sunday, answer three questions on this week’s card and set next week’s Focus.

Set it up in about five minutes

It’s easiest on a computer. The last two steps then become your routine.

  1. Buy it on Etsy and download the Start here PDF. Open the template link in it and click the Duplicate icon (two small squares) at the top. A free Notion account is enough.

  2. Open Start here and click Clear sample data. Your own tasks are never touched.

  3. On the home page, click + Task, give it a date and mark up to three tasks as your Top 3.

The + Task button above the Today list on the home page
  4. Open any task, click Area and use ••• next to an option to rename it or change its color.

  5. Each morning, if anything is under Overdue, click Move unfinished to today.

  6. On Sunday, open this week’s card and answer the three questions. On Monday, write the new week’s Focus.

Keep the weeks, months and the 2027 page in place. Every view finds its tasks through them.

Is it right for you?

A good fit if

  • You plan by the week but want today’s list in front of you.
  • Tasks slip and you want them back without typing them again.
  • You want last week kept, not wiped, so you can look back.
  • You like a calm, simple page more than lots of widgets.

Look elsewhere if

  • You plan hour by hour. Times here are a short field, not an hourly grid.
  • You want a printable paper planner. This one lives in Notion.
  • You plan with a team and assign tasks to people. It’s made for one person.
  • You want your calendar events pulled in. You add tasks here yourself.

Questions

Does it work on the free Notion plan?

Yes. It runs on databases, formulas and buttons, and the free plan has all three.

Do I have to set up each new week?

No. The planner already holds each week and month through December 2027, starting in October 2026. When Monday comes, the new week is there and last week stays in Weekly reviews.

What happens to tasks I don’t finish?

They show under Overdue the next day. Click Move unfinished to today and they all move to today’s list. You can also drag one to another day in the week calendar.

Can I add times to tasks?

Yes. Each task has an optional Time, like 09:00 or 18:30, and Today and the week calendar show it. There’s no hourly grid, so tasks without a time work just as well.

Can I make a task repeat every week?

Yes. Open the Repeating task template from the arrow next to New, give it a name and pick Duplicate every. Notion then adds it for you on the days you chose.

Does the week start on Monday?

Week cards go from Monday to Sunday. The week calendar uses the start day in your Notion Preferences, so switch on Start week on Monday there if you want the two to line up.

What if I start in the middle of the year?

That works. The sample tasks are from October and November 2026, so clear them and begin with your own week. Weeks and months from before you started stay hidden in Weekly reviews and Your year.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Setup is easiest on a computer. On a phone, the List tab under This week is easier to read than the calendar, and ticking a task takes a tap.

Where does the template go after I pay?

You download a Start here PDF from Etsy with the template link. Open the link and click the Duplicate icon at the top of the page, and the copy is yours to keep and change.
