Logging a trade, the account cards and P&L calendar, a trading day and the playbook, filmed in the real template.
We read 633 reviews of other trading journals in Notion. Traders ask for a simple one, for profit by strategy and for a calendar that fills in on its own. This one is built around those three.
Each trade shows on its day in green or red, with its result. Click one to open it.
Link a trade to a setup in your Playbook. Its card shows the win rate, the number of trades, net P&L and average R.
Live, demo or a challenge, each with its balance, win rate, profit factor and average R. A challenge shows how close you are to the profit target.
Tag a trade with Moved stop, Chased entry or Oversized. The main page adds up the last 30 days for each mistake.
We set it up from a fresh copy, the way you’ll get it: cleared the sample, logged a trade to the Main account, started a trading day and logged a trade from it, then brought the sample back.
The main page has your account cards, the P&L calendar, your recent trades, the Playbook and what mistakes cost you. Trades, Daily journal, Playbook, Accounts and the Trading plan each have a page of their own.
P&L, R and Result sit under the symbol. Below are the account, setup, market, direction, entry, exit, size, fees and risk, then a grade, whether you kept to your rules, emotions, mistakes, a chart and notes.
Before the open: your bias, mood, a four-point checklist and the plan. After the close: a review. Trades logged from the day link to it, and the day shows its P&L.
One page per setup with the idea, markets and timeframe, and every trade that used it, with the win rate, net P&L and average R.
Starting balance, type and broker, plus a profit target for challenges. The card shows the share of the target you’ve made, or Profit target reached.
Tabs for all trades, a calendar and open trades, and tables by month, quarter or year with the count and net P&L for each.
Your rules, your risk limits and a weekly review, on one page you can read before the open.
Options count 100 shares a contract. Futures take a point value in Multiplier, and forex size goes in units.
Scaled in and out, or rather type the result? Manual P&L replaces the math.
Leave Exit empty and the trade shows as Open. It counts in your stats once you close it.
Three accounts and a month of trades show how it works. One button clears them, and your Main account and five starter setups stay.
Before the open, click + Trading day, tick the checklist and write your plan.
Log each trade with + Log trade on that day’s page, so it counts in the day.
After the close, write a short review of the day.
Once a week, look at the Playbook and what mistakes cost you.
You do this once. It’s easiest on a computer.
Buy it on Etsy and download the Start here PDF. Open the template link in it and click the Duplicate icon (two small squares) at the top. A free Notion account is enough.
Open Start here and click the button to clear the sample trades, trading days and sample accounts.
In Accounts, rename Main account and fill in its starting balance and type. Trading a challenge? Add the profit target.
Click + Log trade and type the symbol. Then choose the setup and direction and fill in the entry, exit, size and what you risked.
Before the open, click + Trading day, tick the checklist and write your plan.
In Trades, the By month, By quarter and By year tabs show how you’re doing over time.
Trading futures, forex or options? Start here explains how size and P&L work for each.
Yes, all of it.
US dollars. Trading a pair that doesn’t end in USD? Type your dollar result in Manual P&L.
Exit minus entry, times size, minus fees, with the sign flipped for a short. Options count 100 shares per contract, and futures use the point value you put in Multiplier.
Yes. Add it as an account with the type Challenge and fill in the profit target. Its card shows the share of the target you’ve made so far. Drawdown limits aren’t tracked.
Yes. In the Notion app, tap + Log trade on the main page. Add the journal to your Favorites so it’s quick to reach.
No. It’s a journal for keeping your own records. It doesn’t suggest trades or promise any results, and trading involves risk.
You download a Start here PDF from Etsy with the template link. Open the link and click the Duplicate icon at the top of the page, and the copy is yours to keep and change.
