The week, the starter meals, day totals, the grocery list and Prep day, filmed in the real template.

What it does that most meal planners don’t

Before building it, we looked at the most copied free meal planners for Notion. Several keep the parts people want most, like a grocery list that fills itself and calories for the day, for a paid version sold outside Notion. This one has all of it in one template.

  • Buys enough for everyone

Type how many people eat each day. The list works out how many batches to cook and how much to buy for all of them.

  • Calories and protein per day

Day total adds up the meals you picked, for one person. Carbs and fat are on every meal too.

  • Two weeks, no dates to fix

This week and Next week run Monday to Sunday. New week moves next week up and opens a fresh one, whatever month it is.

  • Leftovers and nights out

Pick Leftovers or Eat out for any meal. Nothing goes on the list and the day adds 0 kcal for it.

We set it up from a fresh copy, the way you’ll get it: cleared the sample week, set People, added a meal with its ingredients, planned both weeks, shopped from the list and pressed New week. We checked the batch math by hand too, like three lunches for two from a recipe that serves six.

What’s inside

The main page holds This week and My meals, with links to the grocery list and Prep day at the top. Every meal opens to its own page with its ingredients.

How to use it each week

  1. Pick meals for the days ahead in This week, or plan Next week early.

  2. Open Grocery list, tick Buy in Pantry for anything running low, then shop from To buy and tick Got it.

  3. On prep day, open Prep day and tick Prepped as you go.

  4. When the week ends, click New week. Next week moves up and a fresh one opens.

Set it up in about five minutes

Do this once. It’s easiest on a computer.

  1. Buy it on the Notion Marketplace and add it to your workspace when Notion asks. A free Notion account is enough.

  2. Open Start here and click the button in step 1 to empty the sample week. The 20 sample meals stay in My meals.

  3. In This week and Next week, type how many people eat each day under People.

The People column in This week, with 2 on each day
  4. Under My meals, click New. Name the meal, set Serves, then add each ingredient with its Qty, Unit and Aisle.

Serves set to 6 at the top of a meal page, and the Item, Qty, Unit and Aisle columns of its ingredients table
  5. Click a cell in This week, like Monday under Dinner, and pick a meal.

A meal picker open on a This week cell, listing meals like Chicken Burrito Bowls and Banana Oat Pancakes
  6. Open Grocery list. In the Pantry tab, tick Buy for staples you need, then shop from To buy.

Don’t track calories? Leave them empty. The grocery list doesn’t need them.

Is it right for you?

A good fit if

  • You plan the week’s meals and shop once.
  • You cook for a family or a partner, or meal prep for yourself.
  • You want calories and protein without a separate app.
  • You eat leftovers or go out a few nights a week.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want a calorie app with a food database. Here you type each meal’s values once.
  • You mostly want a photo book of recipes. Our Recipe Book is made for that.
  • You plan a month at a time. This one plans two weeks.
  • You want ingredients read from a website for you. You type them in.

Questions

Does it work on the free Notion plan?

Yes. It runs on databases, formulas and buttons, and the free plan has all three.

How does the list know how much to buy?

Each meal has Serves and each day has People. Plan burrito bowls for three lunches for two people and that’s 6 servings. The recipe makes 6, so the list buys one batch.

Does it track calories and macros?

Yes. Type calories, protein, carbs and fat on a meal once. Day total adds up calories and protein for each day, for one person.

What if we eat leftovers or eat out?

Pick Leftovers or Eat out for that meal. Nothing goes on the list and it counts as 0 kcal.

Can I plan more than one week?

Yes, two at a time. Plan Next week whenever you like, then click New week when it starts. Every meal stays.

Can I add things that aren’t in a meal?

Yes. In the Pantry tab of the grocery list, click New, type the item and tick Buy.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Setup is easiest on a computer. After that, the Cards tab shows each day as a card, and the list works well in the store.

Where does the template go after I pay?

From the Notion Marketplace, Notion adds it to your workspace right away. From Etsy, you download a PDF with the template link, open it and click Duplicate.
