Watch the 53-second tour

Picking a day, logging sets, the next target, history, programs, the exercise library and body weight, filmed in the real template.

What it does that most gym trackers don’t

Lifters who review gym templates ask for fewer taps, exercises that are already filled in and a log that works on the phone. This one starts with all three, then tells you what to lift next time.

  • A next target on every move

Reach the top of your rep range on every set and it says add weight. Not there yet? It shows the reps to beat.

  • Two fields per move

Click + Log, then type the weight and your reps, like 10 10 9. The date fills in on its own.

  • 68 moves and four programs

Push Pull Legs is turned on for you. Upper Lower, Full Body and Glute Focus are a checkbox away.

  • PRs that count reps too

Lifting heavier is a PR, and so is doing more total reps at your best weight.

We set it up from a fresh copy, the way you’ll get it: cleared the sample, switched to kg, logged a Push day, clicked Done today and logged a weigh-in.

What’s inside

The main page shows today’s workout, what you lifted this week, your main lifts and your weight goal. Programs, Exercises, History and Body each have a page of their own.

Pick today’s workout

The days of your program as cards, with the one you did longest ago first. Open it and every move is waiting with its + Log button.

Workout day

Each move with its next target, last time and plan, so you know the weight before you load the bar. Done today sends the day to the back.

The Push day with + Log buttons and next targets like Add weight: 100 × 5

Exercise page

Next target, last time, plan, best weight and best 1RM at the top, and every session of that move below with its PRs.

Back squat says Add weight: 195 × 5 and bench press says Same weight: 160, beat 7 6 6

Exercise library

68 moves grouped by muscle, each with a picture of the muscle group, a plan like 3 × 8-12 and a Watch form link.

Also in the template

  • Today and This week

Every move you log today and this week on the main page, like 160 lb × 7 6 6, with its PRs.

  • Body

Weekly weigh-ins with a goal bar, measurements like waist and arms, and progress photos in their own tab.

  • lb or kg

Pick your unit once. Weight jumps follow it: 5 or 10 lb, 2.5 or 5 kg.

  • Sample data

Five weeks of Push Pull Legs show how it works. One button clears them and keeps your moves and programs.

How to use it

  1. On the main page, open the day at the front of Pick today’s workout.

  2. Read the Next target for each move before you lift.

  3. After each move, click + Log and type the weight and your reps.

  4. When you’re done, click Done today. Once a week, click + Log weight.

Set it up in about five minutes

You do this once. It’s easiest on a computer.

  1. Buy it on Etsy and download the Start here PDF. Open the template link in it and click the Duplicate icon (two small squares) at the top. A free Notion account is enough.

  2. Open Start here and click the button to clear the sample. Then open My profile: choose lb or kg, and add your start weight and the weight you’re aiming for.

  3. Open Programs and check Active on the days you want. Push Pull Legs is already on.

The Active checkbox on the Push card marked
  4. At the gym, open today’s day and click + Log next to a move.

The + Log button next to Barbell bench press marked
  5. Type the weight and your reps for each set, like 10 10 9. 3x10 means three sets of 10.

    Weight 160 and Reps 8 7 7 marked on a new log
  6. When you finish, click Done today. The next day moves to the front.

  7. Next time, follow the Next target on each move. It tells you when to add weight.

Once a week, click + Log weight on the main page. The goal bar shows how close you are.

Is it right for you?

A good fit if

  • You lift weights and want to know what to lift next time.
  • You’d rather start from a ready program than build one.
  • You log at the gym on your phone and want it quick.
  • You’re losing or gaining weight and want your lifts and weigh-ins together.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want charts of your lifts. Progress shows as numbers: best weight, best 1RM and the next target.
  • You want a rest timer. Notion doesn’t time your sets.
  • You mostly run or take classes. Cardio logs minutes and distance, but the rest is made for lifting.
  • You coach clients. It’s made for one lifter.

Questions

Does it work on the free Notion plan?

Yes. It runs on databases, formulas and buttons, and the free plan has all three. Progress photos can be up to 5 MB each.

Can I use kg?

Yes. Pick kg in My profile and type every weight in kg from then on. When it’s time to go heavier, the next target adds 2.5 kg, or 5 kg on lower body lifts.

How does it know when to add weight?

Each move has a plan like 3 × 6-10. When every set reaches the top of the range, the next target says add weight and starts you at the bottom of the range. If not, it shows last time’s reps to beat.

Can I add my own exercises?

Yes. Click New on the Exercises page, type the name and pick the muscle. Then fill in Sets, Min and Max: 3, 8 and 12 gives you 3 × 8-12.

What about bodyweight moves and cardio?

Leave Weight empty for push-ups, pull-ups and dips, and the target counts your reps. Cardio moves take minutes and distance instead.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Setup is easiest on a computer. At the gym you open the day, tap + Log and fill in two fields.

Where does the template go after I pay?

You download a Start here PDF from Etsy with the template link. Open the link and click the Duplicate icon at the top of the page, and the copy is yours to keep and change.
