What it does that most ADHD templates don’t

Before rebuilding it, we read 112 reviews of ADHD templates for Notion. The same words came up again and again: easy, simple, not overwhelming, everything in one place. So the main page shows only today, a brain dump and a few basics, and nothing on it ever turns red.

  • A short Today list

Up to three tasks, each with a tiny first step and a time guess. Done moves a task to Done today, and Not today moves it to Later.

  • Lists that clear overnight

Basics and routines start fresh every morning. Done shows the time you did each one, so you don’t have to remember.

  • No overdue pile

Open tasks from earlier days wait in Earlier this week with no red count. Back after a few days away? Fresh start moves everything to Later.

  • A view for hard days

Tick Just this one on the task that matters. The Hard day tab shows that task and nothing else.

We set it up from a fresh copy, the way you’ll get it: cleared the samples, filled the brain dump, picked tasks for today, planned the week and tried Fresh start. Nothing gets deleted along the way.

What’s inside

The main page holds Today, the brain dump, your Basics and Done today. This week, Routines and Stuck? are one click away at the top.

A hard day view

On a day when everything feels like too much, tick Just this one on the most important task and open the Hard day tab. Everything else can wait.

Tasks small enough to start

Each task has a First step, the smallest move you can make, plus a Time guess and a Part of day. Give it a When date if it needs one and Notion can remind you.

This week

Give a few tasks a day from Monday to Sunday and they turn up on the main page that morning. Later has no dates at all, and a short Weekly reset list starts over every Monday.

Routines that clear overnight

Basics, Morning, Evening and Shutdown lists with Done and Undo. Every so often counts the days since you last did things like changing the sheets.

Stuck?

A page of ideas for when a task won’t start, like shrinking the first step, a five-minute timer, body doubling and a list of Easy wins you write yourself.

  • A Start here page

Five short steps inside your copy, with pictures of where to click.

How to use it each day

  1. Got a thought? Click Add to brain dump, type it and close it. Sort it later.

  2. Pick up to three tasks with Today and write a tiny first step for each.

  3. Tap Done on tasks and Basics as you go. The daily lists clear overnight.

  4. Once a week, open This week, give a few tasks a day and tick off the Weekly reset.

Set it up in about ten minutes

Do this once. It’s easiest on a computer.

  1. Buy it on Etsy and download the Start here PDF. Open the template link in it and click the Duplicate icon (two small squares) at the top. A free Notion account is enough.

  2. Open Start here and click the button in step 1 to clear the sample tasks. The sample routines stay as a starting point.

  3. Click Add to brain dump and empty your head, one thought per task. Don’t sort yet.

  4. Click Today on up to three tasks. Done moves a task to Done today, Not today moves it to Later.

  5. Rename your Basics to the few things you want to do every day. Done shows the time next to each one.

  6. Open This week, set a task to This week and pick a Day. That day it shows up on the main page.

Keep the names of the Status, Day and Routine options as they are. The lists depend on them.

Is it right for you?

A good fit if

  • Long to-do lists make you freeze, so you want a short one.
  • Thoughts pop up all day and you need one place to drop them.
  • You want daily basics like water or meds to reset on their own.
  • Some days you can do only one thing, and that should be fine.

Look elsewhere if

  • You want a full life dashboard with habits, mood and goals. This one keeps to tasks and routines.
  • You want repeating reminders. Notion reminders don’t repeat, so use a phone alarm for daily things.
  • You want a printed planner. This one lives in Notion.
  • You’re looking for treatment or medical advice. This is a planning tool.

Questions

Does it work on the free Notion plan?

Yes. It runs on databases, formulas and buttons, and the free plan has all three.

Do I need an ADHD diagnosis to use it?

No. It suits anyone who finds long lists hard to start. It’s a planning tool, not medical advice or treatment.

What happens to tasks I don’t finish?

Nothing bad. Tasks planned for earlier days wait in Earlier this week, and Not today moves a task to Later. If you’ve been away, Fresh start clears Today and This week into Later.

Does it send reminders?

Notion can remind you about a task that has a When date. Its reminders don’t repeat, so use a phone alarm for daily things like meds.

Can I use it on my phone?

Yes. Setup is easiest on a computer. After that, the buttons work in the Notion app, and the main page fits a phone screen.

Will it delete my tasks?

No. Done, Not today, Fresh start and the overnight reset only move tasks between lists. Deleting is up to you.

Where does the template go after I pay?

You download a Start here PDF from Etsy with the template link. Open the link and click the Duplicate icon at the top of the page, and the copy is yours to keep and change.
